24-09-2005 - Osterley v Hammersmith
& Fulham IV (31-17)
What a brilliant win. The first 15 minutes was all Osterley. Some great
forwards moves with strong driving and rolling mauls which set up a
stable platform for Tommo to roll off the back of the maul to score
the first in the corner. Further forwards play produced several passes
throughout the forwards for Mike (2nd row) to score his first for the
club.
Due to the
forwards ability to keep the scrums well shaped Wyn was able to release
the speedier backs to stretch their legs for the first time properly
this season.
Only five
minutes of dreaming at the beginning of the second half allowed another
try in for Hammersmith. Further tries came from Dafyd and Geoff who
scored two in his first game for the club. Further points came from
Geoff with his kicking I feel he was surely the man of the match on
the day.
Move of the
match had to be the No 8 pick by Dafyd just outside the oppositions
22, who passed to Geoff who sliced through their backs to score under
the posts. It was great to watch. Even the opposition stood and watched
it as well as some of our own backs who were still deciding on the next
plan of attack.
This was
a great game and seemed to be enjoyed by ALL especially the forwards
who seemed to have the most possession and scored the most tries this
week.
