In taking over the job of Team Secretary from Danny,
who did a brilliant job in very difficult times, I have accepted an
invitation to enter a team in the Old Isleworthians Touch Rugby Seven-a-Side
Competition this Sunday, 24 July.
Old Isleworthians are holding a family day for their
players and we are all invited. I understand there is a bouncy castle
and other amusements for the children and there will be refreshments.
The Touch Rugby Sevens is nothing too serious, just
a means of getting back into the swing of it, as it were and I don't
think there are any other "outside" teams. The event starts
around 12.30pm and so players should be at Wood Lane for midday.
If you are interested in playing, please let me know
as soon as possible and, if not, just turn up anyway.
Incidentally, training has started at Old Isleworthians
at 7.30pm on Wednesday evenings. Let's make an effort to get fit for
the start of the season. Trials are on 3 September and the first fixture
is 10 September. Our first league game is 1 October v Quintin.
In addition, it is somewhat ironic that we are in
the same league as Old Isleworthians, who were most unfortunate to be
relegated.
Hope you can make it on Sunday.
Finally, many thanks to Tommo who has agreed
to be 1st Team skipper.
Regards
Geoff Upsdell
